Meet Scott

Scott Cuthbertson
Founder & Principal Strategist

Scott Cuthbertson is an expert in delivering infrastructure that powers the modern world, specifically large-scale data centers and energy facilities. He works at the intersection of major investment, government policy, and capital projects. His focus is on moving multibillion-dollar projects from a concept to a finished asset by managing the complex needs of both public authorities and private investors.

Before starting Alpen Integrators, Scott was the President and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Utah. In this role, he led one of the most successful regional economies in the United States and oversaw the largest investment projects in the state’s history. His team was responsible for attracting more than $22 billion in new business and acted as the primary bridge between global corporations and government officials to secure significant infrastructure developments.

Scott also served as the Chief Operating Officer for The Point, where he managed the financial planning, programming, and risk for a 700-acre "smart city" development. He had P&L responsibility for a $177 million budget and set up the organizational infrastructure needed to build the roads, utilities, affordable housing and development agreements for a 16-million-square-foot innovation hub. His work focused on making massive, sustainable projects viable and safe for long-term private investment.

His professional foundation was built over 15 years as a consultant at PwC and Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C. He advised Fortune 100 companies and major investors on the logistics and risks of building giant, first-of-their-kind projects, including some of the earliest massive data center developments built globally.

Beyond his executive roles, Scott has served as a commissioner on the Utah Governor’s Unified Economic Opportunity Commission and as a national director for the Urban Land Institute’s infrastructure council. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Oxford, a master’s degree from Georgetown University, and an undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University. Based in Salt Lake City, Scott is dedicated to professionalizing the way the world builds and delivers the next generation of digital and energy infrastructure.
